The Wedding Song

14 11 2012

It was a simple wedding. A young couple learning about Jesus asked the preacher if he would marry them. The reality of grace encouraged the man and woman to make a change in their relationship and commit to each other before God. Just a few close family members came together to witness the moment, including the couple’s two young boys.

The plan was that the preacher would hit the play button on an IPod so that the bride would have a wedding song during her walk down the aisle. The bride adjusted her dress and prepared to take her first steps toward her groom. As she waited for the music to begin, the two little boys stood up on the front pew and began singing “The B-I-B-L-E” at the top of their lungs. Her new mother-in-law joined the chorus, and to the tune of this familiar children’s song, this new couple began their new life together.

It might be just a funny moment if there wasn’t so much wisdom in it. God had His hand on those two little boys at just that moment, guiding them to sing a song that outlined the wisdom on which all relationships need to be built.

The B-I-B-L-E

My Jesus Resolution today is to sing The B-I-B-L-E. All of my relationships – my relationship with my spouse, my children, my family, my friends, my church family, my co-workers, my neighbors, and the people I meet in my day – need to find their grounding in the wisdom of God’s Word. His Book teaches me how to love, forgive, listen, and value the people around me. The Bible has the power to reach deep inside me and open my heart to the presence, power, grace, and holiness of God. It gives me the solid guidelines I need to make my relationships ones filled with joy, love, and laughter. Standing on the Word of God will strengthen my marriage, improve my friendships, and guide me as I parent my children. The B-I-B-L-E! Oh, that’s the book for me!
